Equipment detail

One of the changes we made this winter is to keep Wayne in the shop and detail all of our equipment.  Along with Jim, our Equipment Technician, they've been going over each piece of machinery with a fine tooth comb.  In the end, all the minor and major repairs will be taken care and the equipment will look brand new before it goes back to the barn for storage.

Wayne has his own work area set up (fully heated) with all the appropriate tools - degreaser, 409, Armor all, Bleach white, wax, Rhino liner....

After Wayne's done, the 5 year old mowers look like new.

Winter projects

Every winter we complete a few small projects besides the normal winter tasks of painting benches, sharpening cup cutters, etc.  These projects either enhance our operation or increase efficiency.  We are outdoors during the majority of the winter, but when the weather isn't cooperating, we get to work indoors.

The improvement last week was building a better system for storing our string trimmers.  Adam came up with an efficient solution and went to work.

The end result is a tidy appearance that saves space.

Spring is not far off....

Blanchard Valley Center will again be growing and planting a majority of our annual flowers this season.  The flowers are already starting to bloom in the greenhouse.

Pots recently planted with seeds in a growth chamber.

These flowers were all taken from cuttings of last years crop.  At a certain size, BVC Clients will again take cuttings, dip them in growth hormones and place in a growth chamber.  The flowers they grow and cultivate will soon be planted here at FCC.  This process gives them great experience and valuable lessons in growing plants, from beginning to end.

Winter wonderland

What a picturesque week we had.  Although we saw sub-zero temps, the snow and ice fog created some stunning views.

As the sun rose on Wednesday morning.

We also put together a video showcasing the property under it's winter blanket:

Tree trimming

This morning was a little "cool" so we kept busy inside, after lunch we decided to get some fresh air and complete a small project around the clubhouse.

The trees on the West side of the building were overgrown and shading out the light coming into the River rooms.  We removed a good portion of the small trees and trimmed up the remaining stand.

The view from the River rooms has improved and sunlight can now penetrate the canopy to enter the building.

Shop floor

Over the holiday break, our Equipment Technician - Jim Otley, painted the shop floor with the latest product from Sherwin Williams.

If you recall, we painted the floor two years ago. It held up relatively well, but with all the equipment we bring in on a daily basis and with the wear from the lift, the floor was starting to look wore down again.  This new product looks great and should hold up better to the traffic.  For those of you that are interested in painting your garage floor, I'll let you know how it holds up over the summer.
